Phonics

Students will use the Fundations program for phonics instruction, which is an explicit, multisensory approach to teaching phonics. Students will practice "tapping out" words to read and spell. 

Current unit: Students will be working in different groups for phonics/word study, according to their individual level. Some students will begin the year reviewing letter sounds and working on reading and spelling CVC words (words like jet, mug, hat). Other students will be working on multisyllabic words and sight words according to their reading level.
